For many of us, our furry companions are more than just pets—they're family. When children grow and leave the nest, our dogs step into the role of beloved children, filling our lives with joy, companionship, and boundless energy. And what better way to capture the spirit of our canine companions than through the lens of a camera?
This week, I decided to explore bustling downtown Littleton, Colorado with Raven, a spirited 10-month-old tri-colored Australian Shepherd. Against the backdrop of textured bricks, colorful doors, and unique mosaics, Raven's personality shone bright as she explored her urban playground. We embarked on a journey through the city streets, well, a 3-4 block radius 😉, discovering hidden gems at every turn.
From perching on blue windowsills to posing by bike racks that framed her perfectly, Raven embraced each moment with enthusiasm as I tried to capture the essence of her playful & inquisitive spirit. It was this particular frame that stole the show: Raven eagerly propped her paws on a wheel, looking like she was steering a ship - ready to embark on an adventure of a lifetime. She exuded a sense of curiosity and excitement that was simply infectious, and reminded us of the endless possibilities that await those willing to explore.
“Looking for Adventure”
Throughout the session, Raven's safety remained a top priority, so she was securely leashed 98% of the time (our first location was quiet & contained, so for a few frames she was off-leash.) Despite the heavy vehicular traffic, Raven was totally unperturbed by the noise; her trust in her human companion was evident as she eagerly posed for the camera. While I was prepared with lighting equipment, the natural light proved to be more than sufficient, creating beautiful catchlights in Raven’s eyes.

From Raven's mom: "Raven loves to work and learn. To her, this was another opportunity to work and she enjoyed doing it all, she especially loved getting on things - the window sill, the wheel. I really had a good time and loved exploring different types of shots and angles. Ginger was always positive even if Raven wasn't being perfect. I never felt bad about how she was doing."
